Over this six hour class, you will learn to take accurate body measurements and translate those measurements to paper, to make a template (block) pattern that is specifically for you or your client or a standard size of your choice.
Once you have created the block pattern, you will then cut and sew the pattern in calico, fit it on yourself, client or dress form (mannequin) and then work through any alterations needed before finalising a cardboard block pattern.
This block will then be the basis to create any woven top, dress or skirt style you can imagine.
To conclude the class, you will learn various dart-manipulation techniques to get you started.
You’ll be provided with pattern making paper and cardboard required for the class, paper scissors and long pattern rulers to use during the class.
Please bring with you;
Tape measure
Mechanical Pencil or Pencil and sharpener
Eraser
Standard size ruler
Fabric scissors, if you have them
Domestic sewing machine, if you have access to one (please note in booking if you need to borrow one).
Basic sewing skills are required for this class.
Go check out the products page if you would like to purchase a pattern making essentials toolkit, which includes most of the above and more.
Class sizes are kept to a minimum to ensure everyone has the chance to ask one-on-one questions and feels supported throughout the process.
