This one-off, six hour class is broken into two parts. Part one will cover design elements, body shapes and fabric selection. Part two will be using your/a block* to create a pattern and mock-up of your own design.

What you’ll achieve: gain an understanding of apparel design and designing for specific body shapes, what you need to consider when designing a garment, translating your design into a master pattern, tracing off and proving your pattern pieces, ready to cut and sew a mock-up and alter.

You’ll be provided with pattern making paper required for the class, mock-up fabric, paper scissors and long pattern rulers to use during the class.

Please bring with you;

  • Tape measure

  • Mechanical Pencil or Pencil and sharpener

  • Eraser

  • Standard size ruler

  • Fabric scissors, if you have them

  • An idea of what you would like to make

  • *A block pattern to start your design from or you can use our standard size 10 women’s or size Medium men’s block

  • Domestic sewing machine, if you have access to one (please note in booking if you need to borrow one).

Basic sewing skills are required for this class.
