These one-off three hour classes, will cover basic sewing skills through to specific techniques.There is no prerequisite for these classes.
Subjects we will cover are;
‘Help, I’ve never used a sewing machine’ - sewing 101
Setting up a machine
Needle choice
Stitch types and uses
Plain sewing
Fabric grain lines
Easing
Sewing darts/tucks/gathers
Basic edge finishes
Basic hemming technique
‘Seams, openings and finishing techniques’ - sewing, levelled up
French, open, felled and bound seams
Button holes & loops, lapped, exposed and invisible zips
Bagging out and binding edges
Double turned, bagged out and blind stitched hems
Fusing, stay stitching, hand finishes
You’ll be provided with pre-cut fabric and required trims to construct the above techniques, print outs of each technique you’ve learned, for future reference and a folder to store all your samples in.
